The Association is at present very much involved in the challenges and opportunities presented in Europe. European Standards are the responsibility of CEN and CENELEC, prepared in accordance with EC mandates and Directives. CEN has set up a Technical Committee to prepare Standards for Road Equipment, covering Safety Barriers, Road Markings, Road Signs (including variable Message Signs), Traffic Control, Street Lighting, Noise Barriers, Anti-glare Screens, Telephone Boxes etc. We currently provide representatives on the Working Group on Vertical Signs and representatives on its Sub-Groups dealing with Variable Message Signs, the Group dealing with Traffic Control and various Task Groups. Similarly, CENELEC have set up Technical committees dealing with Electrical/Electronic safety aspects, on which we are represented.
